unspecified: The legend behind diamonds
July 13, 2013

Ever wonder why we use diamonds as a sign of adornment and love? or why diamonds are so precious (side from their price). Here are a few ancient legends that answer this question.

-Ancient Egyptians believed that the vein of love runs from the heart to the vein of the third finger on the left hand. This is where a diamond/ engagement ring is usually worn.

-The Greeks believed that diamonds were crystalized lighting, tears of the gods or even star splinters. This is why they were so valuable to them, since they believed in polytheism.

-Like the Greeks, ancient Hindus believed that diamonds were created by lightning bolts.

-It is also believed that if a diamond is placed on a lover’s chest, he or she will sleep talk and tell all.

Some of the ancient beliefs are a little out there from our point of view, but hey, who knows maybe you should try the whole diamond on the chest myth. You’ll never know what you might find out.
